Hi bloggers!
This week in "The films to see immediately":-
"300"
Even if I hadn't seen this movie I'll advice you to go and watch it on screen as I tink it really deserves the look.
Its aesthetic is very precise and innovative and it retrace the story of the 300 soldiers killed by the Persians long ago in our history.
Till now it had scored more than 127.5 millions of U.S. dollars at the U.S. box office and it seems to be a worldwide success except in Iran(where Perse was found long ago) where they are protesting that the film shows too much the Persians as criminals when it was fully the case.
So if you want to have a good moment in your locality dark room, go and watch "300" you won't regret it!
"300" a Zack Snyder film.
Hi bloggers!
This week in the weekly: "The movies to see immediately!", "the Hollywood info", and "the series overview".
-"The movies to see immediately!"
This week I will advice you cinephiles to see 1 film; "The pursuit of happyness".
No, I didn't make any typing-mistake. Infact we write the word happiness with and "i" not an "y".
This is one of the leading way of the film.
This movie relates the true story of an afro american during the early 1980's. Chris Gardner is a very talented but unlucky man. He is married and has a little boy, Christopher. To earn his living he work as salesman for his own benefits but this business haven't been so lucrative since ever. So to try to find a way out and to succeed in life, Chris will try his best to follow his dream of one day becomming a great man and for this he will sacrifice several things in his so poor life chasing a job which is foreseen by 20 person more well seated in the society than him.
On his way he will have to struggle with several problems like loneliness, poverty, racism, discrimination,... , even being homeless. But he will endure all this only to touch his target and to show to his son that you must follow your dreams whatever it take.
Somehow during all the movie he will be running after happiness for him and his son!
A very emotional film with a great script and a true story which will cause several of you to pour more that a tear!
For my part, Will Smith gies his upmost performance in this film and of coarse he really deserved his Ocscar nomination and his son, Jayden Smith, seems to walk on his way.
So to discover why Happiness is written with a "y" and much more over, just watch this film on stage and soon on DVD!
Will Smith "The pursuit of happyness" with Thandie Newton and introducing Jayden Smith.
"The hollywood news"
Mariah Carey is back in Hollywood!
The Diva is shooting her 1st film after "Glitter" which hadn't brought to her the cinematographic respect she was expecting since long.
The film is named "Tennesse" and will relate the story of a waitress(Carey) who will set off with 2 brothers who are in search of their dad who is the only one who can save their younger brother who has developped a leukemia.
Well it is a promising script if we take the emotional implication that Mariah should bring in the film to give some credibility to her character and may be this will in the end open the doors of Hollywood to her. The director had chosen her due to her performances on her last album and also due to the emotions she will surely bring in the film. Several critics had said that her performance on a country song on the shooting was fabulous and that they had even cried. So lets cross fingers for the Diva and just hope that it won't be one more failure for the latter who by the way needs 2 assistant beside her when she is on interview(one to hold her chewing gum and the other one to hold her glass of water)!
I will start with a new chronicle that I will inaugurate as by now; the films to see immediately! Your life as a cinematographic in buddy will depend on this weekly edition!
"The devil wears Prada"; If you hadn't seen that movie, you are really late.
Released in late 2006, this film portrays the trashy world of fashion with as loop a famous New York fashion magazine directed by the satiric Miranda Priestley, played by the fabulous Academy Awards winner Meryl Streep.
Miranda is the iconic editor of the Runway magazine New York and have the control on anything that appears on any edition and, fictitiously, had revealed great nouns of the high fashion like Karl Lagerfeld, etc. One day a work agency sends to her magazine, Andrea Sachs( Anne Hathaway), an anti-mode 24 years old girl having neither a style nor an interest in fashion(the contrary on the Runway world). The latter is hired as 2nd assistant after Emily(Emily Blunt), Miranda's new 1st assistant, who will try eagerly to inculcate to her some rules of the runway magazine. Andrea will have to carry on and survive for almost 1 year if she wants to have enough baggage to realise her dream and get hired as a journalist at another more intellectual magazine.
Miranda will satirise her, as for her working in Runway must be deserved, so Andy will try her best by sacrificing her personal life, painting a realistic paint of how devotion to a work that doesn't deserve it may change one's life completely.
By the way Andy will find herself metamorphosed drastically from her natural girl style into what she hated the most since when she got into Runway; a Miranda-slave( someone obeying to Miranda day and night and ready to do everything to keep her job at Runway). Now wearing Prada and Chanel, Andy will make her way in this hell helped by Nigel(Stanley Tucci) until the day that the real life will bring her back to her true reality.
An adaptation of the best-selling book; "Hell on heels", "the devil wears Prada" is a captivating, hilarious but true satiric parody on how the real world of fashion is actually and how the innocence, simplicity, humanity, and good wills of somebody may quickly be torn apart in such a lucrative world.
So I advice your to see it on DVD as it really deserves the look!
Starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway "The devil wears Prada" with Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt. A 20th century fox film 2006.
"Dreamgirls"; If you don't want to be lost in several conversations among your friends about the 8 times nominated for the 2006 Oscar ceremony, go an watch this film!
Released in Christmas 2006 in the U.S. and recently in several countries, "Dreamgirls" is the cinematographic adaptation of the Broadway show holding the same name and created in 1981.
This movie relates the career story of 3 girls, Effie White(Jenifer Hudson), Lorell Williams(Anika Nony Rose) and Deena Jones(Beyoncé Knowles), all 3 in a group in the 1960's called "the Dreamettes". After having participated and lost in a singing contest, "the Dreamettes" are noticed by an effective producer(Jamie Foxx) who will make them become the new choristers of a semi popular afro-American singer of the 60's(Eddie Murphy).
The movie revolves around the ascension of "the dreamettes" quickly placed on the top of the scene by their so skilled manager and their author and choreographer, C.C. White(Keith Robinson), making of them one of the 1st afro-American group to conquer the hearts of the whole American society even the white people and all around the world becoming by the way, "the Dreams".
But all this won't be free of sacrifices and our 3 ladies will learn that the world of the show-business is far from being fair and accessible to everyone and that having a great voice is sometimes not enough to become a star. This musical-comedy movie is highly based on the career of "the Supremes" in the 60's and on the debuts of Diana Ross as a lead singer here incarnated by the character of Deena Jones(Beyoncé Knowles). It also relates the path of the black music and the birth of the RnB music during the 60's up to the late 70's.
So if you are a fan of good cinema and of good music I advice you to see this film already on screen. Though the quite poor script, the play of the actors and their stunning voices and the well made songs will surely captivate your attention and make you pass a good time all along those 1hr47 mins.
Starring Jamie Foxx, Beyoncé Knowles and Eddie Murphy "Dreamgirls" with Anika Nony Rose, Keith Robinson and introducing the Oscar winner Jenifer Hudson. A Brian Gordon film, Paramount 2006.

well... thumbs up for my favorite Mariah Carey... Can't wait to lay hand on the movie... Some sources even predict a Cesar nomination for best actor female...
and for the sarcastic comment made by my friend Jzz,,, Mariah is generous to give the 2 assistant a job ( judging from their job, they must not be very capable and surely they would not get any job if Mariah was not here) |
